Kela’s remote service was introduced at the Itäkeskus office
The service is open Monday–Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the remote service, it is possible to take care of the same matters as at a Kela service point.
– The client’s own Kela employee guides them to the service room and makes sure the connection works. With the client’s permission, our employee can also stay on for the meeting, says Development Coordinator Reetta Uusihakala.
The service is directed especially to integrating clients but it is open to all clients of the office.
– Some of our clients do not know how to read or write in their native or the western alphabet. In addition, our clients may have learning difficulties or other special needs, continues Reetta Uusihakala, explaining the need for the service.
Appointments do not have to be booked in advance for Kela’s remote services. The remote service does not usually have long queues, and the maximum waiting time is around 5–10 minutes. If necessary, interpretation for the services must be booked by the employment services. Interpreters can be booked via the client’s own employee.
Kela’s adviser comes to Ohjaamo on Tuesdays. Ohjaamo serves those under 30 years of age in matters related to education, work and daily life.
